CUTTING COSTS OF EARLY DRUG DISCOVERY BY MINIATURIZING DRUG TESTING
Today, early drug discovery is often associated with high costs and complex infrastructure. This creates major barriers for smaller biotech companies, startups, and academic research groups that want to investigate new biological targets or explore innovative therapeutic ideas. Especially in areas with limited commercial incentives, such as rare and neglected diseases, many promising research directions remain unexplored because screening campaigns are simply too expensive or resource-intensive.
NEXUS aims to lower these barriers by offering a flexible and cost-efficient screening service that enables researchers to test compound libraries against specific biological targets without the need for large-scale laboratory setups. Our approach has the potential to accelerate the first steps of drug discovery while making high-quality screening technologies available to a much broader community of innovators.
Beyond reducing costs, miniaturized screening can also contribute to more sustainable research practices by lowering material consumption and laboratory waste. By combining innovative microarray technology with a service-oriented business model, NEXUS aims to support faster scientific progress and empower the next generation of drug discovery projects. Our long-term vision is to democratize access to early-stage drug discovery technologies and help unlock therapeutic ideas that might otherwise never be explored.
With NEXUS we are developing a new approach to make early-stage drug discovery more accessible, affordable, and efficient. We are aiming the commercialization of a screening-as-a-service platform based on Droplet Microarray (DMA) technology, which allows biochemical screening experiments to be performed on an extremely small scale. By miniaturizing the testing process, we can significantly reduce the amount of reagents, solvents, and laboratory resources required for screening potential drug candidates.
