FOR MICROORGANISMS AND MACRO IMPACT
What is the origin of life? How can we detect and treat cancer more effectively? Addressing these
fundamental questions requires us to observe life at ever finer scales, from the level of the patient down to
individual cells. A deeper understanding of cellular behavior is key to unlocking answers across biology and
medicine.
Today’s state-of-the-art bioassay monitoring is dominated by optical techniques. While powerful, these
methods often rely on labeling, time-consuming protocols, and expensive instrumentation such as
microscopes and microplate readers. They typically require skilled personnel, offer limited automation, and
often fail to provide continuous, real-time data, restricting both throughput and accessibility.
ThermaGrid Technologies is developing a low-cost, non-invasive, user-friendly platform for real-time
monitoring of bioassays. Our electronic microplates are designed to support researchers in both academia
and industry by enabling continuous, high-resolution insight into cellular processes.
The system integrates flexible, multimodal sensors and actuators into a seamless all-in-one solution.
Integrated actuation enables precise control of environmental parameters such as temperature and gas
conditions, while embedded sensing modules monitor biochemical and biophysical dynamics through direct
measurement of thermal and electrical properties. This multimodal approach provides a richer, more
comprehensive picture of cell behavior than conventional methods.
Our vision is to complement the optical-dominated bioassay landscape with label-free, continuous, and
accessible measurement technologies. By reducing cost, complexity, and reliance on specialized expertise,
ThermaGrid aims to democratize advanced bioassay capabilities, making cutting-edge research tools available
not only to well-funded institutions, but to laboratories worldwide.
