THIS UNIQUE TECHNIQUE WILL MODIFY THE HOT CELL INDUSTRY IN NUCLEAR FIELD
Climate change and the energy requirements pushing the world towards green and alternate
solutions. Nuclear power and scientific research at atomic level provides the key inputs for
sustainable energy sources. While conducting the research, scientists use different equipment’s which
may get radioactive in the process. To handle such radioactive material, ‘Hot-Cell’ facilities are used.
Hot cell is nothing but the confined and heavily shielded place where authorised people can work with
radioactive material remotely. The key challenge is the remote working with robotic arm or
manipulators. Inside the hot cell, radioactive components are dismantled and/or cut to place them in
to the storage facility. The current solutions are being used are the common cutting techniques such
as circular saw, chain saw, sheer cutter etc. These equipment’s create dust, small particles and
secondary waste. It also contaminates the hot cell surface, and one needs to take different measures
to maintain the cleanliness- hot cell. To maintain the clean hot cell requires manpower as well as the
budget.
To overcome all these problems, ‘Laser Cutter in the Hot Cell’ provides the best solution to the users.
User gets the benefits like, remote working capabilities, law secondary radioactive waste, low
maintains for the hot cell contamination, less working hours inside the active zone, mapping and
marking of different radioactive material, and many more
